About Us
You Don’t Need to Be a Gym Person to Get Stronger, Healthier, and Happier
Many of our members once felt just like you do now.
They wanted to get fitter, feel better, and take control of their health. But they didn’t know where to start. Regular gyms felt intimidating. Group classes didn’t meet their needs. And going it alone had never worked out.
You’re not the problem. The way fitness has been packaged for years is.
That’s why we created True Personal Training.

A Clear, Supportive Path – With You at the Centre
At True, we coach real people with busy lives and different starting points. People who haven’t trained in years. People who’ve struggled with consistency. People who just don’t feel comfortable in mainstream gyms.
Everything we do is built around you – your goals, your body, your routine. With expert support, tailored training, and flexibility that actually fits your life, we help you build strength and confidence that lasts.
Why We Do What We Do
True was founded by Ed Rycroft, who started his own fitness journey by losing a significant amount of weight – and discovering how confusing and full of noise the health world can be.
He built True as the gym he wished existed back then.
A place where he’d feel welcome. A place where his mum would feel welcome. A place with real coaching, not fads or quick fixes. Somewhere friendly, professional, and rooted in real care.
Today, that vision lives on in both our Wetherby and Guiseley gyms, led by a team who truly understand what it means to help people feel better in their bodies – and in their lives.

What We Believe
- Every person deserves personalised support, not generic programmes
- Fitness should feel accessible, not overwhelming
- Progress should be sustainable, not extreme
- Coaching should be professional, supportive, and judgement-free
We’re proud that half our members are over 50. We’re proud that many have been with us for years. And we’re proud that people from all walks of life trust us to help them take care of their health.
This Is Your Next Step – And We’ll Guide You Every Step of the Way
